SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - Message From The Sheriff 01/08/24

Good morning,

I wanted to address a few issues from last week's post. As most are aware, the picture of the suspects I posted went viral and was completely taken out of context. I want to make myself perfectly clear when I say this. The ONLY reason the picture was posted was to send a clear message to anyone who wants to bring drugs/guns into Dallas County and flee at high speeds, please think twice! I decided to take the picture down after many people viewed it as "racist".  If anyone takes the time to look at our page, you can see we do not enforce the law based on color. For those people that know me know I'm not that guy. I can tell you I'm disappointed in some people in general. We were accused of racism for our shop with a cop program recently. I raised 6K for underprivileged kids for Christmas to take shopping. At this event we allowed 19 kids to spend $300.00 each. Only 5 of these children were white. We do not post pictures of these children because they can be used for nefarious purposes.

Next, these suspects were not just speeding through our county. One of these suspects was involved in a drive-by shooting in Hot Springs. He was placed on probation in 2022. He had an active warrant for absconding out of Garland County for the past two years. He is a convicted felon. Both of the other suspects have been convicted of fleeing before this incident. These were not three "kids" with a little weed. There were two 21-year-olds and the other was 23 years of age. They are all very dangerous individuals. The FBI was here this morning and will be involved in the investigation to determine federal charges on the fully automatic pistol in their possession.

I will continue to do a weekly report as always. However, the comments section will be disabled moving forward. I have received numerous death threats this weekend, along with a family member of a deputy. I'm not going to tolerate this type of behavior. I will be disabling the comment section of this page to alleviate these issues. Also, you will no longer be able to contact me through FB messenger.

In closing, a little over a year ago the voters hired me to do a job. We have had some challenges this first year, but our mission is still the same promise I made before the election. That is to keep Dallas County the best place to live and raise a family. I can't tell you how proud I am of the men and women with whom I serve and the job they do each day. Many things have been accomplished this last year, but a lot of work is in front of us. We will NOT tolerate people such as the suspects pictured last week to come in and terrorize our county. I want to thank you for your continued support!

God Bless,

Sheriff Mike Knoedl
