Good morning,
Can anyone help us guess what this weather is going to do? It sounds like everyone needs to prepare for a hard freeze next week. Be sure to winterize all outside equipment and leave the water dripping at night to avoid those costly repairs.
On Wednesday, we were dispatched to a gravel truck on fire at Farindale on Highway 167. Captain Keith Axsom was on the scene for several hours until the roadway was cleared. I want to recognize Deputy Tim Wofford for making two DWI arrests in the past 10 days. We are constantly working to keep our highways safe in Dallas County. I will post our final statistics for the recent Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign within the next few weeks.
The deputies, along with detention officers, completed shakedowns of some pods here at the jail, searching for contraband that may have entered illegally. We recently had several new federal inmates enter our facility and were found to have brought some cell phones in. This is a serious security concern for us. I'm happy to announce that the cell phones were found, and the inmates will be facing additional charges.
We had our monthly Criminal Circuit Court on Wednesday and cleared some cases on the docket:

I want to thank my staff for hosting a small birthday party for me at the Sheriff's office yesterday. They were kind enough to sing Happy Birthday and serve cake. Two different people also dropped off cakes for me. You know who you are, and I appreciate it. Now, I have to start exercising to work off all of this birthday cake! I want to thank everyone who sent texts and calls wishing me a happy birthday.
