What a wild week!
I want to start out bragging on all of my deputies this week. We all have put in some long hours. Last night, Calhoun County initiated a pursuit in Hampton heading north on Highway 167. Captain Keith Axsom and Sergeant Jordan Ables successfully deployed spike strips on Highway167. All four tires on the suspect's vehicle were deflated causing the vehicle to stop next to the weight scales where they were taken into custody without incident. The suspect vehicle was from Louisiana. Drugs and a substantial amount of cash were seized from the vehicle. On Thursday morning a suspect fled on foot in the woods during a traffic stop in the city limits of Fordyce. Deputies launched our drone, and the suspect was located and taken into custody 12 minutes later without further incident. (See Photo of Suspect) This incident is another great example of teamwork between the Dallas County Sheriff's Office and the Fordyce Police Department!
Three separate drug arrests were made this week involving methamphetamines by deputies. These arrests are all still under investigation at this time. Once again, our deputies did a great job getting these drugs off the street.
Mr. Rucker and his crew picked up trash on Chambersville Road to Church Street. On Tuesday they picked up Lynn Street, Willow, Center, and Hays Streets. The rest of the week was spent cleaning up scrap metal around the Sheriff's Office. A total of 13 loads were hauled off. Mr. Rucker and his crew have worked hard to get things cleaned up around the office.
