Good morning,
I hope everyone has the plug in their boats this morning! I know we have received several inches of rain in the Southern part of Dallas County. We are fortunate to have had no reports of any major damage or heavy flooding. If you encounter flooded areas, please turn around and don't drown.
This last week has been busy as usual. We started out working with the Fordyce Police Department on a suspected shoplifting call at Walmart. After further investigation and obtaining probable cause, a search uncovered over 100 grams of methamphetamine. (See Photos) Captain Keith Axsom and I responded to a call on Fourth Street of two subjects carrying a shotgun in front of Reliance Bank. We encountered the suspects behind the Pine Cove apartment complex where one of them began to flee on foot. We quickly set up a perimeter and Captain Axsom took the second suspect into custody. The firearm turned out to be a large caliber pellet gun with a scope on it. Both subjects were minors and released into the custody of their parents. Deputies worked on several accidents, along with the Arkansas State Police. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. We responded with the Fordyce Police Department yesterday on a barricaded subject threatening suicide. The subject was later located on Flowers Street and taken into custody without incident. Several misdemeanor warrants were served this week as well.
Mr. Rucker is back and working hard with his crew. He and his crew picked up trash on Highway 8 to County Road 116. They came back in the afternoon and mowed the yard around the jail. On Tuesday trash was picked up from County Road 116 to Highway 9. They continued on Highway 9 to Highway 48 at Tulip. The rest of the week was spent picking up some donated blocks for the county road department to dump into washouts. I have received several positive comments about how good our county looks compared to others around us. I appreciate the hard work Mr. Rucker does for our county.
Please remember the DWI Mobilization will be in full force this week for St. Patrick's Day. You will see stepped-up law enforcement presence from March 15-17. Please don't drink & drive!
