Good morning,
I hope everyone had a great week!
I got away last week for a few days to spend with family and take a short trip to turkey hunt. It is always good to get away and make those memories. I encourage everyone to take the time out of their busy schedules and spend with family and friends.
As always, I want to thank all my employees for taking care of business during my absence. There was a drug arrest and DWI arrest made during our Driving While Impaired campaign. You can see the overall statistics below on our efforts while working on this federal program. We charged 5 inmates with introducing contraband into the detention facility. A small amount of tobacco, synthetic marijuana, and vapes were discovered that were smuggled in. All five of these inmates now face additional felony charges for this incident. You can't believe the different situations we are faced with in the detention center. Kudos to the jail staff and deputies for catching this before it got out of hand.
Mr. Rucker and his crew have been busy working at the extension office mowing and cleaning up the yard. They stayed busy the rest of the week doing general maintenance around the Sheriff's Office. We acquired a new building from federal surplus to move our radio equipment in at a repeater site in the central part of the county. The old building that housed this equipment has literally rotted down. We will have this conversion completed by the first of next month.
In closing, I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter! Enjoy the weekend with loved ones and remember what this holiday is all about. He has risen!
