SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 04/11/2025

Good morning,

This past week has been another busy one. Deputies ran in all different directions.

The week started with a public meeting at Fordyce Schools about the dangers of the internet. I want to thank Krissy Rainey for organizing this event so that we could present this vital information to both parents and children in attendance. In today's society, many people are still unaware of the dangers that lurk for children and adults when it comes to the internet. Please watch what your children are doing on cell phones and computers. There are predators out there waiting for the opportunity to take advantage of younger children that are pure evil. Don't think it can't or won't happen to your children. I don't want to sound dramatic, but it is just facts we see play out almost every day worldwide. Please stay on top of this information; technology changes daily, and some of it is not for the good. I want to recognize Deputy Tim Wofford for staying on top of this technology so our department can better protect our citizens as we get complaints/information about illegal activity.

We continue to work on the drug issues that plague our county. I want the citizens to know I will be committed to working on the drug problem until the day I leave office. If you do the research, you can see that most all other crimes can be traced back to drugs. These crimes can be anything from theft of property to domestic disputes. Most of your thefts and break-ins are committed by people looking to make quick money to support their drug habit. I posted last week that we are here for anyone who needs information and guidance to seek rehab for addiction. The answer is not always just locking people up and throwing away the key. If you or a loved one is struggling, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or someone at the Sheriff's Office.

Mr. Simmons has had a busy week of picking up trash around the county. He began picking up on Highway 9, south of Jacinto to the county line and Dallas 131 at Highway 167 to the county line. They cleaned up around the dumpsters at West Gate Apartment, Dallas 119 at Ramsay, Highway 8 to Highway 273. Dallas 124 to Highway 8. Highway 273 to Highway 9 and 3 miles of Highway 126. This is the time for me to address the dumpster issue in our county. As most of you are aware, there was a conversation about us losing all dumpsters in our county. We will place cameras on these dumpsters at different locations. Anyone found to be throwing anything out, but household trash may face fines up to $1000.00. We have frequently seen mattresses, wood, toilets, and tires placed outside the dumpsters. There is a place for these items at the landfill. The dumpsters are NOT the place for anything but household trash. If you're caught doing this, expect to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law! NO EXCEPTIONS! Take pride in our beautiful county and don't be part of the problem.

Operation Distracted Driving will continue until the next Monday.

Reminder: The new ambulance service will start next Tuesday. We want to welcome Valor Ambulance Service and look forward to working together for Dallas County.
