Good morning,
I hope everyone is doing well. Cottonbelt weekend is upon us. I am hoping the weather holds out while everyone can come out and have a good time. With that said, I want everyone to know this is a family-oriented event and we are committed to keeping the event safe for everyone. Please come out and enjoy yourself, but remember, respect everyone attending. We will be working closely with the Fordyce Police Department to ensure we have adequate coverage. On a personal note, I will be unable to attend the parade due to my being at my granddaughter's 8th birthday party. I will be back and working later Saturday afternoon. Please be mindful of where you park your vehicle. We have already had incidents of cars blocking the entrance to Fordyce Fire Department. They have to have quick in and out access should an emergency occur.
A lot of time has been spent this week planning for our annual festival. Deputies did assist Malvern Police Department in a high-speed pursuit that crossed into Dallas County. The suspect eventually crashed out in Hot Spring County and was taken into custody without any further incident. We had various calls that were all answered promptly. We also assisted the Arkansas State Police in handling several vehicle accidents.
Mr. Rucker and his crew have been working hard to prepare for the festival this weekend. All tables and bleachers were set up by him and his crew. All trash cans around the courthouse have been emptied and cleaned each day. They also worked around the extension and ambulance service offices cleaning and picking up trash. Trash was picked up on Abernathy, West 1st, Holmes, Charlotte, and North Russell streets. It goes without saying that we owe Mr. Rucker a huge thank you for all of his hard work to prepare for and work during the Cottonbelt festival! If you see him out be sure to show your appreciation.
