Yesterday at 11:38 a.m. we received the call that no law enforcement officer ever wants to hear. An active shooter in action at Mad Butcher. Immediately law enforcement jumped into action and by 11:43 a.m. the threat was neutralized. We will never understand why this happens. What I do know is i am extremely proud and thankful for the responding officers and first responders who acted swiftly and selflessly in the face of grave danger to protect our citizens as we are sworn to do. I can never say thank you enough.
To the families of the victims my heartfelt prayers and utmost sorrows are extended. I ask that all of you pray for them as they navigate this extremely difficult time.
To the citizens of Fordyce and Dallas County we will recover and we will move forward. I appreciate the many calls, texts, and prayers on my and my officers behalf yesterday. I haven't been able to respond to them all yet but know that I appreciate them more than you know.
