SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 07/12/2024

Good morning,

I hope everyone saw minimal damage from this week's severe weather that hit our county. Hopefully, we have seen the worst of the hurricane season this year in our state.

I am happy to announce that over $72,000 has been raised through the donation account I had set up at Fordyce Bank & Trust for the victims' assistance. Your generosity has been overwhelming! Due to tax purposes. I will turn this money over to the Victims First organization with their partnership with the Arkansas Community Foundation. They will disperse the funds evenly between all of the victims of the mass shooting. Volunteers from Victims First were in Fordyce several days before the Mad Butcher reopened and will be back in Fordyce starting Sunday. I want to personally thank each one who donated in this time of need. This money will go a long way to assist the 13 victims who were directly affected during this horrific tragedy. From this point forward, I encourage any donations to go to the Arkansas Community Foundation. They are actively raising funds until September 30 for long-term needs, which will be dispersed to the survivors as determined by a local steering committee. I will assure you I have vetted these organizations we are working with thoroughly and they are here to help. The foundation has been raising funds for long-term recovery for decades, along with Victims First who has assisted victims in 50 mass shootings in numerous states for years.

You can learn more about these organizations and give here:

It has made me proud to see our community come together and help each other in this time of need. My prayer each day is for God to place his healing hand on everyone to make us stronger than we ever have been! #FORDYCESTRONG

I want to update everyone about a shooting incident that occurred in the city of Fordyce yesterday. Occupants of two vehicles were allegedly shooting at each other on Charlotte Street around 2:00 PM. The sheriff's office, along with Fordyce Police Department responded immediately. One suspect was taken into custody in Camden yesterday afternoon. We are working to identify everyone involved and anticipate further arrests as we gather more details. No one was injured in the incident.

Once again, I want to applaud Deputy Johnny Rucker's efforts in cleaning up our County! This week he and his crew have completed works around the Detention Center, they've cleaned up around dumpsters in the City of Fordyce, performed vehicle maintenance on County vehicles, and cleaned up Highways 270 and 220. They've also done maintenance around the OEM building, the County Extension Office, and the Ambulance Building. They've trimmed hedges, and shrubs and mowed grass. I can't say enough good things about the great job Rucker and his crew are doing.
