Good morning,

I hope all is well with everyone this past week.

I'm going to start my report off with a little public relations work done this week with Captain Keith Axsom. (See Photos) Captain Axsom did a static display with his patrol unit and explained the duties of a county deputy. This type of program is important to me to educate young people that law enforcement is their friend. Our goal is to build trust between the kids and parents and to show that we are always here to help. I'm proud of my staff and encourage them to take the time to interact with our youth whenever possible. That first interaction may be the first contact with law enforcement and will set the stage for the rest of their life. As parents, please explain to your child that if they're ever in trouble, do not hesitate to approach a law enforcement officer for assistance.

This week began with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department and the Fordyce Police Department serving a search warrant at a residence for drugs. Two people were taken into custody and remain in jail. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were seized during this search. (Methamphetamine) This has been one of the many ongoing drug investigations in our county/city. Once again, I want to commend the Fordyce Police Department for their commitment to a positive working relationship with our agency. There are numerous more drug investigations ongoing at this time. Will we be knocking on your door next?

Mr. Rucker and his crew have had another busy week. They started last Saturday cleaning up the Redbug Stadium. On Monday they disassembled the stands from the fair barn. They began trash pickup on Highway 273 and Highway 79 to Wheeler Cemetary. Wheeler Cemetary to Highway 9. The week ended with the mowing and trimming around the detention facility. Maintenance was completed at the radio tower at Ramsey, which houses our county communications system. We now have fenced and surveillance cameras installed to protect our recent upgrades/investments.

We had our normal monthly Circuit Court this week and had a resolution on a few cases:

Warner, Derrick, pled true to Revocation, sentenced to extended probation for 1 year.

Nussey, Phillip, pled no contest to Possession of a Drug Paraphernalia, sentenced to 1 year SIS and fines.

Get ready for Felony Friday!
