Good morning,
I hope everyone has had a relaxing, successful first week of deer season. Hopefully, the weather will eventually cool off, improving the hunting conditions.
I am happy to report that we've not had any hunting-related accidents since the season began. Before entering the woods, wear your hunter orange and ensure your stands are safe.
We have all the deputies back to work after completing training last week. It is good to be back to full staff. Deputy Dusty Walton seized a substantial amount of drugs during a traffic stop on Wednesday. As always, we are working on several drug-related investigations. The drug issues in our county will continue to be a priority for us. We are moving in the right direction with several of our larger dealers off the street, but someone is always waiting to take their place. Most people don't realize that a lot of the other crimes committed in our county are tied to drugs. Burglaries, theft, and domestic violence just to name a few.
Mr. Rucker has taken the week off to deer hunt. The inmate labor has stayed busy doing general maintenance and cleaning around the detention facility.
I am preparing to do the Shop with a Cop program again this year. I will send the information out when I open an account at FB&T. Last year was a huge success with us raising over $7,000.00! This program helps families that may be struggling during the holidays to purchase Christmas for the kids. Please be thinking of anyone you know that we could help with this program this year.
Now, let's get on with Felony Friday!
