Good morning,

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, my report is coming to you a few days early.

I wanted to report an incident that occurred last Thursday night. A pursuit was initiated out of Calhoun County on Highway 167 coming north into Dallas County. The suspect came into Dallas County on Highway 79 and entered into the southbound lane going the wrong way. Captain Keith Axsom took over the pursuit and initiated a TVI, (Tactical Vehicle Intervention) and ended the pursuit with the suspect vehicle crashing out. The suspect fled on foot and was taken into custody quickly. Three Dallas County Deputies have completed this very intensive training within the last month. Sergeant Jordan Ables is now a certified instructor in this training. As I have stated before, continued training is very important to me and my staff. The pursuit I mentioned above could've ended in tragedy very quickly without the intervention of Captain Axsom.

The deputies have been working hard this week in our evidence room. They have prepared over 140 guns to be sold to a licensed firearm dealer. The money from this sale of illegal firearms can be used to purchase law enforcement equipment for our agency. The legislature passed a bill making it possible to utilize those funds for equipment, which ultimately saves our county a lot of money. This is NOT an auction; these firearms have to be sold to someone who possesses a Federal Firearms License. I am proud to say these are illegal firearms that have been taken off the street by felons and drug dealers! Every illegal firearm seized only makes our community safer!

Remember the Click it or Ticket campaign is still ongoing and ends on Sunday. Expect to see stepped-up law enforcement presence during the holiday weekend. Please be safe while traveling to and from friends and family during the holidays. Wear your seatbelt!

Mr. Rucker and his crew began the week by picking up trash at the football field. They have picked up trash on CR 131 North, CR 124, and Highway 8 West. The rest of the week has been spent putting up Christmas lights at the courthouse. I encourage everyone to go by and see the lights at the courthouse after they are finished. Mr. Jeff Mclemore has donated thousands of lights to be added to the display this year.

I want to thank all of my staff for their hard work and dedication to our county. From the deputies, detention officers, dispatchers, and administrative staff that work holidays to keep us safe, I want each one of you to know how thankful I am to have you working for us. Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed.

I want to wish everyone a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

God Bless,

Sheriff Mike Knoedl
