Good morning,
I hope everyone has had a great week.
The deputies have been busy cleaning up and organizing the evidence room this week. As I stated last week, we prepared over 140 illegal guns to be sold to a Federal Firearms Dealer. The proceeds from this sale will go to buy equipment for the Sheriff's Office, which saves taxpayer money.
All certified personnel completed their semi-annual firearms qualifications on Thursday. Everyone qualified with pistols, rifles, and shotguns. I want to thank Fordyce Police Chief Chad Hubanks for overseeing this training for us. I'm proud to announce Deputy Tim Wofford completed training in (ICAC), Internet Crimes Against Children. This will allow us to investigate crimes that may occur in our county. He will be able to search cell phones after obtaining a warrant. We have been depending on other agencies to do this very technical work for us. As you can imagine, sometimes this is very time sensitive and now we can do it in-house.
Several people have contacted us to participate in the Shop with a Cop program. I sent out a reminder earlier this week to anyone who still wishes to donate to this worthy cause. You can go to any Fordyce Bank & Trust branch and make a donation.
Mr. Rucker has been off this week taking some much-needed vacation.
