SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE 12/13/2024

Writer's picture: Mike KnoedlMike Knoedl

Good morning,

I hope everyone is getting in the holiday spirit because it's here!

It's hard to believe we are ending our second year at the Sheriff's Office. A lot has happened in this past year, both good and bad. I am proud to call Dallas County home and serve its citizens. I promised to work diligently and combat the drug issue in our county. I can tell you; that I am satisfied with our progress to date, but there is more work to be done. We will continue to work on the people who choose to sell illegal drugs in our community. With that said, it's time to brag on my staff for their hard work and the long hours dedicated to getting these drug dealers off our streets. I can't go without mentioning the close working relationship with the Fordyce Police Department we have developed this past year. This close working relationship has resulted in better service to our citizens.

I am sad to announce that Mr. Rucker has decided to retire. He will be sorely missed and his contribution to our County is immeasurable. While his experience cannot be replaced, our litter pickup will continue for the county. Not only has Mr. Rucker kept our roads litter-free, but he also ensured maintenance was always done around the detention facility. If you know this man, you know his work ethic is second to no one. If you see him out and about, please thank him for his service! I know I will miss him greatly!

We have identified several families who will participate in our Shop with a Cop program. It's not too late to make a donation at Fordyce Bank & Trust. I want to thank those who have already donated to this special program. We will be contacting those families selected sometime next week with further details. I want to recognize Clark Green and the Silent Arms Motorcycle Club for raising over $1500.00 for the program. They set up at 4th and Edgar Streets and accepted donations for the program. Thanks to all involved.

While you are out Christmas shopping, please be aware of your surroundings at all times. Don't leave gifts in plain sight while out of your vehicle. I've already heard reports of vehicles being broken into and losing everything. Also, if you are having gifts delivered to your home be aware of "porch pirates." If possible, make arrangements to have packages delivered to someone's residence who will be home.

The DWI Mobilization Campaign will begin today and end January 1. Once again you will see stepped-up law enforcement presence to deter and enforce DWI laws. I want to remind everyone NOT to drink and drive! If you will be drinking during the holidays or anytime, please have a designated driver or stay at home.
