SHERIFF MIKE KNOEDL - WEEKLY UPDATE

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is beating this heat! Hopefully, next week will give us some relief from this oppressive heat. If you have plans for the holiday weekend, please remember safety first!

All of us at the Dallas County Sheriff's Office want to send our condolences to the Rogers family during their time of loss. Mr. Jerry Rogers was a friend and a neighbor to me. Their business has been a mainstay in our community for years. Please continue to pray for the Rogers Family.

I know I go on and on about my staff and their difficult jobs. From dispatchers, detention officers, and patrol deputies to administrative positions. I am so proud to have them working with me! This week I want to recognize Captain Keith Axsom and Sergeant Jordan Ables. These two never cease to amaze me with their work ethic and commitment to protecting our county.

Mr. Rucker and his crew are fine examples of the overall teamwork that goes on here daily. He and his crew have been responsible for cleaning up the trash along our roadways here. Not only do they keep our community clean, but they also assist with multiple tasks to help our citizens when and where we can. This includes maintenance around our jail. This week they mowed the senior citizens center, OEM office, and jail yards. They completed trash pickup on county roads 262, 407, and Chambersville Road to the Calhoun County line. Also, they installed a new commercial stove in the jail.

Now on to Felon Friday.

Attention drug dealers, please feel free to report your competition to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department at 870-352-2002. All reports will remain anonymous. We are continuing to sign up those people for our early retirement plan I spoke of after being elected Sheriff. Go somewhere else if you want to continue to sell drugs in our county! If not, we'll eventually be knocking on your door.

We also issued a ticket for Littering/Dumping

Last night we assisted Calhoun County Sheriff's Department with a pursuit that ended with one suspect fleeing on foot. We were able to arrest the suspect about two hours later with a backpack that contained drugs and two firearms. These suspects were from Pine Bluff and now resting comfortably in the Calhoun County jail.

The picture below is an arrest here in Fordyce, which resulted in the seizure of over 2 ounces of Methamphetamine, 76 ecstasy pills, marijuana, and powder cocaine. Take a close look at the ecstasy pills and you can recognize the danger of a small child thinking they were candy. This is a recipe for disaster! I want to recognize Fordyce Police Department for their assistance in this drug arrest. Once again, we are working daily with Fordyce Police Department on several ongoing investigations. This teamwork is essential in protecting our community.

Please remember operation Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over will be going on over the holiday weekend. You will see stepped patrols to combat drinking and driving. Whatever mode of transportation you may be using this holiday weekend, PLEASE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!

Happy fourth of July!

God Bless,

Sheriff Mike Knoedl
